Key stepping stones in our journey thus far……

1991

Incorporation of UGC Holdings Ltd – the founding company of the Malhotra Group PLC. Acquisition of Parrishes Department Store in Shields Road, Newcastle. Acquisition of an existing care home in Birtley, Gateshead

1992

Acquisition of Belle Vue House Care Home in Sunderland

1996

Conversion of upper floors to the Parrish Court building into accommodation for 156 students – still used by students of the 2 Universities in Newcastle today

1998

Acquisition of Parklands Care Home, Seaham – since developed and extended to provide 53 single bedrooms

1999

Developed one of only a few purpose built care homes that existed in Newcastle at the time that we call Belle Vue which is a 49 bed care home in Heaton

2001

Acquisition of 11 commercial properties in Shields Road, Newcastle

2003

Developed our first Arcades business in Shields Road, Newcastle

2004

Acquired a commercial property in Grainger Street, Newcastle and converted the building into a backpackers hostel called The Albatross – voted #1 backpackers hostel in England by Hostelworld customers. Our first venture into the licensed sector with the purchase of the Duke of Northumberland public house on Clayton Street, Newcastle

2005

Acquired prestigious commercial investment properties in Northumberland Street and Blackett Street (both Newcastle City Centre) with tenants such as Barclays Bank, Pret a Manger, and Reid & Sons. Development of new 54 bed care home called Heatherfield at Annitsford, north of Newcastle – since developed with addition of 20 further beds

2009

Concurrent development of 2 new care homes at Crawcrook, Gateshead (Addison Court – 70 beds) and Birtley (Covent House – 63 beds)

2010

Acquired the New Northumbria Hotel in Jesmond, Newcastle that also included Scalini’s Restaurant, Osbornes Bar, and Louis fine dining restaurant. Acquired the 3 Mile Inn and Scalini’s Restaurant at Gosforth, Newcastle

2011

Developed and opened 2 brand new care homes – Brunswick House providing 40 beds, and Hadrian House, Wallsend, Newcastle providing 50 beds

2013

Acquired the Grey Street Hotel on Grey Street, Newcastle

2014

Developed and opened a 50 bed care home called Brooke House, Denton Burn, Newcastle

2015

Our flagship care home, Melton House in Melton Park, overlooking Newcastle Racecourse opened in January 2016

2016

Acquisition of Lea Green Court Care Home, Gosforth

2017

Complete refurbishment and modernisation of all bedrooms, function rooms and reception area within our Grey Street Hotel, Newcastle including new Beauty Retreat Spa

2018

Development and opening of a brand new Mexican themed restaurant in Jesmond at the site formerly trading as Scalini’s

2019

Acquisition of a 50 bedded nursing and residential care home in Alnwick named Hillcrest Care Home. Opening of Leila Lily’s Bar and Restaurant on Grey Street including 212 club lounge.
