At Prestwick Care, we believe every resident deserves care that recognises and celebrates their life story. That’s why we’re incredibly proud to announce that two of our homes have achieved Veteran Friendly status, recognising our commitment to providing exceptional care and support for those who have served in the Armed Forces.

Brunswick House in Gosforth and Bede House in Sunderland have both been awarded Veteran Friendly status through the Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) – a national initiative that helps care homes better understand and support the unique experiences and needs of veterans.

Prestwick Care CEO Bunty Malhotra welcomed the recognition, saying, “Those who served in the Armed Forces have done so much for our country, so it’s only right that they should spend their later years in places that respect their achievements. And that they are given a standard of care and support that reflects our gratitude for all they have done for us.”

Eastside Gardens has been described by the inspector as being an “exceptional service”, in its first inspection since a change in ownership.

The ‘delighted’ staff of a care home in Wallsend have reacted to its ‘outstanding’ rating from the Care Quality Commission. Described by the inspector as being an “exceptional service”, Eastside Gardens has passed its first inspection since a change in ownership with flying colours.

Prestwick Care, which operates 20 care homes in the North East, is part of Malhotra Group Plc and CEO Bunty Malhotra said: “We are delighted to have been declared outstanding at our very first inspection since taking over Eastside Gardens.

“It is only appropriate that the staff and management receive the recognition they deserve for their dedication, hard work and commitment but, most of all, for their care.

“Significant investment has been made by the Group in restructuring the home, which has resulted in a complete transformation and sincere thanks for this must also go to our project and design team.”

Bay View House welcomed families, residents and visitors to a football-themed open day in Whitley Bay, with Newcastle United legend Malcolm ‘Supermac’ Macdonald making a special guest appearance.

Guests had the opportunity to explore the home’s facilities, enjoy a screening of England’s famous 1966 World Cup victory and hear from one of the Magpies’ greatest-ever number nines.

Supermac shared memories from his distinguished playing career and gave his thoughts on England’s recent win over Croatia, praising captain Harry Kane for his leadership and goalscoring display.

A fantastic day of football, memories and community spirit at Bay View House.

Taking place at Three Mile in Gosforth on Friday, May 22, the event aims to raise money for Children’s Cancer North, an independent charity which supports individuals and families affected by childhood cancer.

Running from 10am to 10pm, the games marathon invites people of all ages to take part in a range of lounge games, including darts, pool, table football, dominoes, and retro arcade machines.

Alice Middleton, group sales and marketing manager at Malhotra Group plc, said: “Whether they’re super competitive or just enjoy playing games with friends and family, this event has something for everyone.

“There are traditional pub games along with some pretty impressive arcade games and favourites such as table football, so all ages can take part.

“And the best bit is that entrants will be having fun while supporting a really good cause at the same time.”
